Please be aware that the warranty is void outside of the US and we do not accept returns from outside of the US.

The fans on our website are made only to US electrical standards of 110 Volt and 60 cycles.  It would be best to check with a local electrician about how appliances from the US work in your application, especially fans or similar appliances with motors. A fan is more complex than a light fixture so that even if you do convert the voltage, the motor relies on the cycles (50 vs 60) and may not operate properly on 50 cycles..

If you are interested in ceiling fans in 220 Volt, please contact us for availability.

I put in my order but forgot to order something I need or I want to add something to my order or change it. What should I do?

Please email or call us within one business day and we can either add it to your existing order or start a new order for you. Sometimes we are able to make changes even after one business day so please call us as soon as possible about changes or additions to your order.

About our ceiling fans

How do I know the best mounting height for the fan?

We recommend that the fan be mounted at least 7 feet from the floor for safety.  Most of our fans come standard with downrods that are good for an 8 to 9 1/2 foot ceiling. Longer downrods can be added to your fan order if your ceiling is more than 9 1/2 feet high.  See “Fan selection and installation tips” below for some ideas about where best to position your ceiling fan.

Can your fans be used outdoors?

All ceiling fans in our current product line are UL Listed for indoor use only, and are not designed for wet locations.

We do not recommend using non-UL wet location fans on porches or in screened rooms, even if they will not be directly exposed to the elements.

Does the blade dimension refer to the length of each blade or the overall diameter (the blade span) of the circle described by the tip of the blade??

The blade dimension is the diameter (blade tip to blade tip) dimension.

Are the blade speed and light brightness independent?

Yes, the fan speed and the light brightness can be changed independently.  The light can be used without the fan turning and the fan can be turning with or without the light being on.  All of the lights are able to be completely dimmed as well.

How energy efficient are your fans?

Most of the fans use no more electricity than a 75 watt light bulb when on high speed (not including energy used for the light). The energy efficiency is measured by calculating how much air moves underneath the fan for a certain amount of electricity.  This measurement is called Airflow Efficiency.

Note that the measurement only takes into account the air that is moved below the fan and doesn’t include the air that is moved diagonally out from the ends of the blades.  So, sometimes a fan in use in your home may actually be moving more air than the measurement would seem to indicate.  The energy efficiency of the fans is listed in the specifications for each fan as well as the energy used on high speed and the CFM or cubic feet per minute of air that the fan moves (as measured under the fan) on high speed.

Using a fan in your home can save you money on your heating and air conditioning bills because it mixes the air in the room so that you feel warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Do the fans come with longer or shorter blades?

The fans come only in the sizes as shown in the specifications.

What kind of wiring do I need to install the fan?

You will need to have a ceiling fan junction box installed in the ceiling where you want to mount the fan. A ceiling fan junction box is different from the one used for a light fixture because ceiling fan spin and create a force called torque so the junction box needs to be braced to handle that force safely. CAUTION: Only fans that weigh 35lbs or less can be installed from the junction box. Fans that weigh over 35lbs must be installed directly to the ceiling joist.

The wiring for the fans is 2-wire – this means that only one wall switch is needed for the fan.

Electrical wiring should be done and/or checked by a licensed electrician.  However, once the junction box and switch are wired, the homeowner or a handy person can install the fan.

Fan selection and installation tips

What size fan should I use?

The fan blade sweep is the measurement from blade tip to blade tip. The most important consideration here is to make sure that you mount the fan to allow at least 15 inches of distance from the blade tip to the closest wall. Other than that, you can put a full size ceiling fan into a room as small as 8 feet by 8 feet or as large as 20 by 20 depending upon your ventilation needs. If you are concerned about the ceiling fan looking too large in a smaller room, consider that a well-proportioned ceiling fan will look great even in a small space. When considering how many ceiling fans you will need for a larger space, consider your ventilation needs and the functional areas of the space.

About mounting height

The most important consideration here is to make sure that the fan blades are at least 7 feet above the floor for safety. The dimensions that we give on our website of hanging distance are the dimensions from the mounting point on the ceiling to the very bottom of the fan which is often a few inches more than the distance to the blades. All of our fans are safe to use in a room with 9 foot ceilings; As far as efficiency, the fan will mix the air well at any height, even with a short downrod. With a higher ceiling, the mounting height of the fan becomes more of an aesthetic choice. Some considerations here are that the breezes produced by the fan will be felt more strongly if the fan is closer to the floor and also the consideration of whether the room has a balcony so that you might want to place the fan high enough so that no one can see the top.

More about the control systems

All of the fans come with a 3-speed hand-held remote. The hand held remote, will control all fans within 40 to 100 feet of the controller. If you do not want this to happen, you can easily change the frequency of both the sending unit and the receiver in one fan by changing the frequency of the sending unit using the instructions in your installation manual. You may need to change the frequency sometime in the future if the fans start picking up a signal from another device and responding to it unexpectedly (like a neighbor’s fan or garage door opener). There are up to 256 possible different settings.
